Local seaplane operator Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) decided to add four more seaplanes to its expansive fleet.

The first of the seaplanes, which are being flown in from Portugal, arrived in Maldives on Thursday. TMA stated that the remaining three are scheduled to arrive next month.

According to TMA, this is the highest number of seaplanes the company has added to its fleet at once, over the past 30 years.

TMA stated that the additional aircrafts would help to enhance the company's services in the tourism industry, further highlighting the importance of expanding its fleet in accordance with the string of new resorts being unveiled across the archipelago.

With 52 seaplanes currently in its fleet, TMA is the largest seaplane operator in the world.
