Maldives has signed agreements with Emirates and Qatar Airways to connect the country with key global markets and promote tourism in Maldives.

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) signed the agreement with both airlines yesterday during the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) held in Dubai.

Under the agreement with Qatar Airways, the airline’s network of over 170 destinations will be used to promote the Maldives through joint campaigns, consumer marketing and media activities. The focus will be on positioning the Maldives as a high end destination.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with Emirates will see the airline collaborate with MMPRC on marketing efforts in key tourism markets through special travel packages and promotional activities.

Emirates SkyCargo will also expand freight services to Maldives, boosting trade and freight businesses.

MMPRC said the partnerships aim to attract high end travelers and enhance the country’s visibility in the Middle East.

This year’s ATM saw participation from 230 representatives across 111 Maldivian businesses. The aim of participating in the fair is to strengthen ties with travel trade partners in the region and tap into emerging markets.
