Raysut Maldives Cement, a name synonymous with quality and reliability in the Maldivian construction industry, celebrates 27 years of continuous service this month. From building homes to mega infrastructure projects, the company has become the cement of choice for contractors and developers across the country.

Established in 1998 as Maldives Island Marine Cement through a joint venture between State Trading Organization (STO) and Marine Cement, the company built a reputation for dependable service. That legacy was further strengthened in 2020 when Oman’s Raysut Group, one of the largest cement manufacturers in the Gulf region acquired a 75% stake and rebranded the company as Raysut Maldives Cement.

Backed by ISO 9001:2000 certification and decades of technical expertise from the Raysut Group, the company quickly deepened its trust within the market.

Meeting standards, exceeding expectations

Raysut Maldives Cement is led by CEO Dr. Hilal Saif Al Dhamri, who has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining the trust it has earned over nearly three decades.

“Our focus has always been to listen to our customers, identify their needs, and tailor our services and products accordingly. That’s the key to earning and sustaining trust,” said Dr. Hilal.

All cement produced by the Raysut Group adheres to international ISO, ASTM, and EN standards. As the only company in the Maldives that supplies cement directly from the manufacturer without intermediaries, Raysut offers consistent quality at competitive prices.

Infrastructure built to preserve quality

To ensure that every batch meets the highest standards, Raysut’s cement is packed in climate-controlled facilities and tested using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment before reaching customers.

The company’s Thilafushi Terminal, also climate-controlled and built to Raysut Group’s specifications, has a storage capacity of 9,400 metric tons. It allows for uninterrupted supply, even during peak construction periods.

The facility is designed for both bulk and bagged cement and incorporates the latest technology to maintain product integrity.

A partnership that delivers nationwide

Operating in an island nation presents logistical challenges, but the company’s joint venture with STO ensures seamless delivery to projects across the country.

“Transporting cement in the Maldives requires care and coordination, and STO’s support in managing this is invaluable to us,” said Dr. Hilal.

A versatile product range for every need

Raysut is currently the only cement supplier in the Maldives offering three distinct grades tailored to different uses; OPC 42.5N, 42.5R, and sulphate-resistant cement. Their cement is also used in STO’s popular “Ready Mix” products.

From large-scale infrastructure to residential developments, Raysut cement is trusted for its consistent performance. It has been used in major projects such as the ongoing Thilamale' Bridge and recently completed developments including Barceló Nasandhura.

Looking ahead: sustainable and future-ready

Beyond quality, Raysut Maldives Cement is committed to sustainability. The company has introduced eco-friendly, low-carbon cement for green projects and is working to reduce its carbon footprint by 20% by 2030.

With recent expansions increasing Thilafushi Terminal’s capacity by 35%, the company continues to scale its operations to meet growing demand.

As it celebrates 27 years in the Maldives, Raysut Maldives Cement reaffirms its mission to remain a cornerstone of the construction industry. With a focus on quality, innovation, and sustainability, the company continues to play a vital role in shaping the nation’s development.
