Mianz International College (MI College) marked its 19th anniversary by unveiling a series of new programmes and a scholarship initiative aimed at expanding access to higher education in Maldives.
Registrar Dr Shujau G Mary said the new courses were developed to meet the needs of the Maldivian labour market, with a focus on technology and employer demand.
Among the new programmes is a Bachelor of Business Management, offering specializations in human resource development, finance, project management and marketing. The college also introduced Master of Education degrees in educational policy and planning, and in educational leadership and management, to support career development in the education sector.
Recognizing demand for creative and technology skills, MI College launched a Bachelor of Digital Design, with pathways in 3D design and motion, VFX and motion graphics, graphics and interactive media, and film and media production. A Bachelor of Computer Science will allow students to specialize in areas such as mobile and web development.
In a first for Maldives, MI college also introduced a Bachelor of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Alongside the new programmes, MI College announced a scholarship scheme, Rann Undhoali, designed to support students who cannot afford higher education. Dean of FLEA Azlifa Ahmed said applicants will be able to propose their own criteria for the award, subject to approval by the college.
The college also introduced a legacy programme, offering discounts and incentives for senior students and their family members.
Established in July 2006, MI College has graduated more than 12,000 students and was the first higher education institution in the Maldives to recognize agriculture as an academic discipline.
