One Piece star Taz Skylar appointed Maldives Global Ambassador

The star of the record-breaking live-action One Piece series on Netflix, Taz Skylar, has been appointed as a Visit Maldives Global Ambassador.

Under the ambassadorship, Skylar, who plays the role of Straw Hats Pirates' charismatic chef Sanji, will be promoting Maldives' breathtaking natural beauty, rich culture, sustainable tourism and adventure tourism, Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) said.

Skylar has a 1.8 million strong followership on Instagram, and regularly receives 45,000 likes and over 300 comments on his posts. With his popular presence on the global stage, he will be able to deliver Maldives tourism promotion to a wide international audience, VMC said.

Skylar is set to visit the Maldives from August 27 to September 15, during which events will be held to showcase Maldives cuisine and interesting aspects.

Released on Netflix, One Piece became the most watched show in 84 countries. One Piece went on to break records previously set by Stranger Things and Wednesday.
