In preparation for this year’s Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race, a special session was held to highlight the importance of physical well-being. The session focused particularly on resorts and corporate offices, as corporate teams form a key part of this year’s race format.

Introduced last year, the Corporate Team Category allows employees from various sectors—including resorts, government institutions, and private companies—to participate as teams of four. This initiative promotes teamwork, fitness, and collaboration across organizations.

To register, teams must pay a fee of MVR 1,000, with a discounted rate of MVR 800 available for payments made via DhiraaguPay. Each registration includes official race T-shirts, bibs with timing chips, and medals for all participants. Additionally, MVR 100 from each participant’s fee will be donated to participating NGOs, supporting the event’s community-focused mission.

Winners in the Corporate Team Category will be determined based on the combined completion time of all four team members. Each runner must finish the 5K race within the 45-minute cut-off. Prize money includes MVR 10,000 for the winning team, MVR 8,000 for the runner-up, and MVR 6,000 for the second runner-up.

The Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race remains the only international road race in the country, officially recognized by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). It is also part of the World Running Calendar. This year’s race is scheduled for August 24 at Hulhumalé Central Park.

As part of its commitment to social responsibility, the 2025 edition of the race will focus on child safety, with dedicated opportunities for child protection agencies to conduct fundraising activities, further highlighting the race’s community-driven purpose.

Registration is now open and will continue until the participant cap of 4,000 runners is reached.
