The award also serves to mark the various developments in telecommunications and work that has been done for the nation since 2005.

Ooredoo has come to expand its telecommunication services and connect many businesses to the public. In a tweet made by Ooredoo, they attribute the award to their employees, partners and customers. They also pledged to connect the nation like never before.

Ooredoo has been providing telecommunication services for the last 20 years. They provide 5G services to a large percent of the Maldivian population. They have also made it possible for small businesses to sell their products on their e-commerce platform, Moolee.

Ooredoo have been responsible for the following:

  2. Introduction of the SMS based information service.
  3. Introduction of 3G services in 2008.
  4. Introduction of wireless broadband in 2009.

Ooredoo has also given special attention to building the digital infrastructure from 2010 to 2014. They also introduced innovative services such as prepaid broadband and video broadcasting.

They rebranded to "Ooredoo Maldives" in 2013, with the company working with Huawei to introduce the nation's first LTE network for mobile and fixed broadband. These changes not only gained customer confidence, but also provided data services across the country and made rapid progress in meeting the communication needs of the people.
