"Baakee" crowned Ooredoo Mas Race champion

The Ooredoo Mas Race that was held last Friday at K. Huraa saw the team "Baakee" be crowned champion. The team scored 545 points among Male' area's 19 teams, winning a cash prize of MVR 25,000.

The Ooredoo Mas Race that was held last Friday at K. Huraa saw the team "Baakee" be crowned champion.

The team scored 545 points among Male' area's 19 teams, winning a cash prize of MVR 25,000. Second place was secured by "Noru" with 490 points, winning a cash prize of MVR 10,000. Third place was secured by Anantara with 370 points, winning a cash prize of MVR 5,000.

The largest fish to have been caught in the competition was a grouper weighing 21 kilograms, being caught by Anantara's Malaaz. The award for Best Fisherman was won by Club MTCC's Ziyadh, reeling in 36 fish. The award for Best Fisherwoman was won by STELCO Kanbalun's Ameena, reeling in 7 fish. Both contestants won a PIO Ultimate Sea Spirit/Gangstar (H/D) fishing rod by Hai Fishing Tackles.

In celebration of Ooredoo's 20th anniversary, this year's Mas Race is being held at K. Huraa and Sh. Funadhoo, with this being the 16th edition of the Mas Race.

The Ooredoo Mas Race is a popular event that emboldens Maldivian culture, with many looking forward to it every year.
