Fuel imports into the Maldives rose last month compared with May and June, according to Maldives Customs data.
Imports of fuel were valued at MVR 923 million in July, up from MVR 777 million in June and MVR 790 million in May. It was the second highest figure recorded this year, after January’s MVR 960 million.
Overall imports excluding fuel stood at MVR 3.6 billion in July about MVR 400 million lower than the previous month. Food was the second-largest import category, amounting to MVR 859 million.
Exports totaled MVR 210 million, with frozen bluefin tuna accounting for the bulk at MVR 126 million.
Customs revenue for the month rose to MVR 295 million, higher than the same period last year.
