Tourist arrivals rise but average stay shortens

Despite the growth in arrivals, the average length of stay has declined. Tourists spent an average of 6.9 days in Maldives in the first seven months of this year, compared with 7.6 days during the same period in 2024.

Tourist arrivals to Maldives rose in July compared with last year, but visitors are spending less time in the country, according to figures from the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).

A total of 186,738 tourists visited in July, an 11 percent increase compared to the same month last year.

Overall arrivals for the first seven months of the year reached 1,294,868, up from 1,183,057 in the same period last year.

The report also noted an increase in bed capacity, with 3,114 more beds available as of July compared to last year.

July recorded the highest average stay so far this year at 7.5 days.
