MACL has presented 22 awards across three categories specifically for the aviation industry.

In a ceremony held last night at Crossroads Maldives under the name "Velana Awards," these accolades were given for the first time in the Maldives.

In these awards, Etihad Airways won the Airline of the Year award. Additionally, FCOM Holdings Private Limited was named Freighter of the Year.

Furthermore, Qatar Airways, Emirates, TMA, and Manta Air also received various awards.

The Velana Awards were introduced to strengthen travel connectivity and improve service quality. MACL stated that this award will be given annually to recognize and appreciate the invaluable work of Velana International Airport’s partners in maintaining the Maldives as a popular destination among travelers and businesses.

At the ceremony, the CEO and Managing Director of MACL, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, stated that the Velana Awards are not just about giving out prizes, but are a way to appreciate the work of corporate partners who stand steadfastly with MACL every day and to celebrate the shared success achieved together. He also noted that while operational growth is one of the most important metrics for measuring MACL's success, the company’s progress is not solely about increasing numbers.

Furthermore, highlighting MACL's role in advancing the Maldivian economy, he stated that they would continue to work on facilitating ease for the parties involved in the company's progress.
