Parliament approves Shan Shakir as Maldivian ambassador to Germany

Maldives Parliament had approved Aishath Shan Shakir, current Chief of Protocol, to be appointed as Maldives’ ambassador to Germany on Tuesday.

The first woman to be appointed for Chief of Protocol in Maldives was approved by the consensus of all 29 voters.

Shan Shakir was approved by the Committee on Foreign Relations on May 16.

She was appointed as Chief of Protocol on November 15, 2020.

She had previously held other senior position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well, including the position of Joint Secretary at the ministry. She had previously served as Maldivian ambassador to Bangladesh as well.
