Azim sworn in as new Mayor of Male' City

Adam Azim has taken his oath of office as Male' City Mayor at a ceremony held last night at Dharubaaruge.

Adam Azim has taken his oath of office as Male' City Mayor at a ceremony held last night at Dharubaaruge.

Azim, contesting on a Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) ticket, won the mayoral elections held on January 13 by a large margin.

Along with Azim, the three elected Male' City Council Members were also sworn in in last night's ceremony. These are Henveiru South Councilor Aminath Rishfa, Maafannu South Councilor Hassan Nizam and Henveiru Central Councilor Ahmed Rishwan.

All three Councilors represent the ruling People's National Congress (PNC). After having been elected on an MDP ticket, Rishwan defected to PNC on Monday afternoon.
