Habeeb appointed as a member of the Human Rights Commission

Former Vice Chairperson of the Elections Commission (EC), Ismail Habeeb, has been appointed as a member of the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) today.

In a ceremony held at the President's Office this afternoon, Habeeb took the oath of office, administered by Supreme Court Justice Ali Rasheed Hussain.

Habeeb served as Vice Chairperson of the Elections Commission from 2021 to 2024, prior to which he also served two consecutive terms as a member of the Commission.

Habeeb holds a Bachelor of Shar'iah and Law from Villa College and a Master of Arts (Dhivehi Language) from the National University of Maldives.
