An official ceremony has been held this morning to welcome President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, who is currently on an official visit to the country.
The ceremony was held at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya, where President Muizzu was welcomed by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

This was followed by official talks between the leaders. Ahead of the joint press conference by President Muizzu and Prime Minister Anwar, MoUs were signed in five different areas.
The MoUs include:
- An agreement on development of sports: The agreement was signed by Maldives' Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel and Malaysia's Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh
- An agreement on the health sector: The agreement was signed by Maldives' Health Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel and Malaysia's Health Minister Dr Haji Dzulkefly Ahmad
- An agreement on the tourism sector: The agreement was signed by Maldives Ambassador to Malaysia Mariyam Shabeena and Malaysia's Deputy Minister of Tourism Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan
- An agreement on training of diplomats: The agreement was signed by Maldives Ambassador to Malaysia Mariyam Shabeena and Malaysia's Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamad Alamin
- An agreement on bilateral consultation: The agreement was signed by Maldives Ambassador to Malaysia Mariyam Shabeena and Malaysia's Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamad Alamin

In the ensuing joint press conference, President Muizzu stated that these MoUs lay the foundation for even stronger ties between the two countries. He expressed hope to continue collaboration with Malaysia in various areas.
The President will conclude his visit and return to Maldives on Wednesday.
