President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, during his official visit to Malaysia, has urged Maldivians living in the country to not let go of Islamic values even while living abroad.
His remarks were made in an event to meet with Maldivians living in the country.
Speaking further, he said Maldivians should not let go of their identity even if they live in a different country.
He also said that sometimes lifestyles change based on the trends of the country people live in, even making them forget Islamic values, but that Maldivians should always remember that they are Muslims.
He said fulfilling regular prayers and living a good life would ensure every success.
"There is no happiness anywhere else. There is no happiness living life the way others do," the president said.
Dr. Muizzu went on to say that enjoying with parents and family should also be done, but that it must be done within the bounds of Islam.
Studying abroad is for the satisfaction of one's self and their parents as well as to bring a good name for the country, he also said.
In his speech, the president also encouraged Maldivians living abroad to be unified and friendly with one another.
He also assured Maldivians living abroad that he would try to find a solution to the concerns of his Maldivian nationals living in Malaysia, and said he would work to ensure the rights of Maldivians living abroad as much as those living at home.
