Jumhooree Party Leader Gasim Ibrahim has described the Maldives International Financial Centre (MIFC) formed by the government with Qatar's MBS Global Investments as a revolutionary project changing the economic future of the Maldives.

Gasim called on political leaders and parties to extend support for this vision.

An agreement was signed for this USD 8.8 billion joint venture at a ceremony held at Kurumba Maldives last night, attended by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu and MBS Founder Sheikh Nayef Bin Eid Al Thani.

In a post on X, Gasim said that this is a revolutionary step forward to curb Maldives' economy's dependence on tourism.

Gasim said that with the establishment of MIFC, Maldives will be accepted as a global financial hub, giving rise to new innovations and posing advantages to local youths' business endeavours.
