Environment Ministry and Housing Development Corporation (HDC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop and operate a green nursery in Farukolhufushi, Hulhumale'.
According to HDC, the nursery will support President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s presidential pledge to plant five million trees across the Maldives.
While the Ministry will lead the development of the nursery, HDC will be responsible for its operation.
The initiative is part of HDC's efforts to contribute to the government’s Five Million Tree Planting Program. The corporation aims to plant one million trees in Hulhumalé, Rasmalé, Kudagiri, Thilafushi, and Gulhi Falhu.
HDC said the program will help transform and green all the islands under its jurisdiction.
