Maldives Customs have seized over 3.6 kilograms of methamphetamine at Velana International Airport.

Maldives Customs confirmed the meth was intercepted on Thursday night during routine checks on air cargo. The drugs, weighing a total of 3,600 grams, were confiscated as part of ongoing efforts to prevent narcotics trafficking into the country.

It remains unclear whether any arrests have been made in connection with the case.

Customs said that attempts to smuggle drugs by both air and sea have been increasing, and all such cases are routinely handed over to the Maldives Police Service for further investigation.
