Male' City power outage being investigated, measures to be taken to prevent such incidents: Thoriq

Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim has said that the cause of the power outages in the entire Male' and Hulhumale' is being investigated to prevent such problems from happening in the future.

After a power outage at 12:45 pm, power has been restored to the entire city. However, one area of ​​Hulhumale' is still without electricity.

In a post on X, he said that all necessary efforts are being made to restore electricity service in Male', Hulhumale' and Hulhule'. The incident is being investigated and necessary measures are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

Offices, shops and cafe's were shut down today due to power outages in Male'.

STELCO said the cause of the power outage has not yet been established. However, he said he would look into the matter after the electricity problem was resolved.

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has also ordered the power outage to be investigated seriously.
