Will take measures to ensure such power outages do not reoccur: Fahmy

STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahmy has stated tonight that all necessary actions will be taken to ensure that a major blackout such as happened today in Male' and Hulhumale' do not reoccur.

Today's power outage occurred at around 12:45pm, with it taking until after sunset to restore power to all areas of Male'.

In a post on X, Fahmy confirmed that the issues in the Greater Male' Interconnection Grid have now been resolved, and power restored in both Male' and Hulhumale'.

Fahmy extended thanks to all who assisted in restoring electricity services, including STELCO staff and others.

Fahmy assured that the company will take all necessary actions to prevent such an incident from reoccurring.

He also apologized to the public for the inconveniences faced due to the five hour power outage.

The cause of the blackout will be identified, and details shared a later date, he said.
