President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has today reaffirmed the government's steadfast commitment towards strengthening national food safety standards.
The President made this statement in a post shared on X on the occasion of World Food Safety Day. He described food safety as being the bedrock of public health and economic resilience.
Speaking on this year's theme 'Food Safey: Science in Action', the President emphasized the crucial role of scientific research and evidence based practices in tackling food borne illnesses.
President Muizzu also noted the Food Safety Act, ratified in 2024, as a key milestone in achieving food safety.
He went on to praise Maldives Food and Drug Authority's 'Mukabba' social media campaign which aims to increase public engagement on the issue.
