The issue with the fire vehicle has now been resolved, and Sh. Funadhoo Airport has been brought back into operation, Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) has stated.
With the airport having been closed earlier today, Maldivian diverted their flight to Funadhoo to N. Maafaru.
Operations at the Funadhoo Airport were temporarily halted due to issues with their fire vehicle, but the issue has now been resolved and the airport once again in operation, RACL said.
RACL further said that when the current management had taken office, all the airports under the company had aged fire vehicles, which the company is now working to replace.
Funadhoo Airport had to halt operations in October last year as well due to issues in their fire vehicle.
RACL apologized to passengers for the inconvenience caused, and assured that they will work to improve services.
Although the airport is back in operation, scheduled flights are planned to travel to the airport from Tuesday onwards.
