Former President Mohamed Nasheed has expressed confidence tonight that Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will win the next Local Council Elections by a large margin, adding that President Dr Mohamed Muizzu will only be able to win 20 percent.
Nasheed made these remarks in his speech at the MDP rally at Sultan Park tonight, held to welcome him back to the party after a two year split.
"This election, council election, whether it's Male' City Council, Addu City Council, Kulhudhuhfushi Council, Huvadhoo, Fuvahulah, not just Addu to Kelaa, but from Thuraakunu to Addu, all these islands, we must take the councils of all 194 islands," Nasheed declared.
Nasheed said that "Maldives needs to be returned to Maldivians", adding that means of living comfortably must be sought.
"I have joined this party, my old party, I dedicated my whole life to this party. My biggest hope is that this party succeeds. My hope is always that we achieve successes in every upcoming election."
