The foundation has been laid today for the mosque being built in Bangladesh in memory of recently deceased Islamic scholar Sheikh Ibrahim Fareed Ahmed.

The mosque is being built by the Khidhmath Jamiyya, an organization through which Fareed worked to spread Islamic knowledge.

The organization shared a video of the foundation being laid for the mosque yesterday. The foundation was laid by Fareed's sons, Abdulla Fareed and Mohamed Fareed.

Khidhmath Jamiyya said that the mosque has the capacity to accommodate 455 persons. It is to be 250 square metres in size, and the organization expects construction will cost MVR 760,000. Public donations helped fund the project, with the target amount reached in under a day after the donation drive began.

As they continued to receive donations after the target amount was reached, the organization has decided to construct a mosque in Maldives as well.
