Man arrested for stealing from Immigration warehouse

A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing from the Maldives Immigration warehouse and attempting to sell the stolen items in Male' local market area.

Police said they received a report of the theft on Thursday from the Immigration warehouse located in the Orchid Building. Officers later arrested a suspect after receiving a tip-off that he was selling the stolen items in Male' market area.

The suspect, identified as Ahmed Niusham, 36, from Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo, was found in possession of the stolen goods, which included engine spare parts, electronics, and other items, police said.

Niusham was produced before the Criminal Court, which ordered him to be remanded in custody for 15 days while investigations continue.
