Man arrested for stealing a safe containing over MVR 100,000 in Male'

Police have arrested a man in connection with the theft of a safe containing more than MVR 100,000 from a residence in Machangolhi, Male’.

The incident was reported to police last night, after the safe was discovered missing from the house. According to the Maldives Police Service, an investigation was immediately launched, including a review of CCTV footage from the area.

Based on the footage, police identified and arrested 39-year-old Ismail Saif, of Habibihep, R. Alifushi. He was apprehended on Maaveyo Magu around 11:05 AM this morning.

When taken into custody and searched, police found a sum of money believed to be from the stolen safe, along with a mobile phone suspected to have been purchased using the stolen funds.
