Ministry of Islamic Affairs has said today that a foreign university has pledged to donate 60,000 books to libraries that will be established in Islamic Centres across the atolls.
As per the ministry's website, Islamic Minister Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has said that a university from a friendly nation has decided to donate books needed for libraries that will be included in the Islamic Centres being developed in HA. Dhihdhoo, R. Ungoofaaru, GDh. Thinadhoo, Addu City, and other islands.
The minister did not reveal which university or country the donation will be coming from. An official from the ministry, however, said that these details will be released on a later date.
Shaheem said that work will soon commence to establish libraries at existing Islamic Centres.
Currently, the ministry is working on setting up libraries in Salman Mosque and the Islamic Centre in Male'.
Establishing libraries in Islamic Centres in the atolls is a presidential pledge of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
