Goods worth MVR 40,000 have been stolen from the residence of former Managing Director of State TV, PSM, Ali Khalid.
In a post on Facebook today, Ali Khalid wrote that a group had broken into his house in Male' at around 6:13 am on last Sunday and committed a robbery. He appealed for public assistance to find those responsible.
In his post, he attached CCTV footage showing two individuals stealing from his home, as well as photos of two individuals who were attempting to sell the stolen items.
Ali Khalid believes that the thieves gained access to his house through a fanlight. They reached the fanlight through the adjacent building, which is currently under construction. The thieves spent about twenty minutes inside the house.
Among the stolen items are an iPhone, two Dell laptops, three hard drives, a OnePlus tablet, a JBL bluetooth speaker, sunglasses and perfumes. The items were taken in a bag found inside the home.
Ali Khalid estimates that the value of the stolen goods will reach MVR 40,000.
The theft was reported to Police at 7:30 am on the same day.
Ali Khalid went on to say that the thieves had been well prepared, wearing gloves to ensure they did not leave behind any fingerprints. The low quality of the CCTV footage also makes it hard to identify them.
However, the iPhone stolen from the house had been traced with Police assistance, which led them to two persons attempting to sell the stolen goods. The two have since been arrested, and some of the items have been recovered.

Khalid said that the person who had led the robbery has not been caught yet, accusing a man by the name of Zameel, who he said is more commonly called 'Saturday'.
'Saturday' was last spotted going to Hulhumale' carrying a red duffel bag, he said.
"We are very concerned about this case, and we are in fear. That is why we are appealing for public assistance," he said.
He appealed to the public to contact him or the Police if they have any information about the thieves or the stolen goods.
