Life in prison for 'Yaya' due to drug trafficking

Mohamed Nabeel, also known as Yaya on TikTok for his acts of indecency on the platform has been sentenced to life in jail on a drug trafficking conviction. The sentencing was ruled by the court yesterday.

Mohamed Nabeel, also known as Yaya on TikTok for his acts of indecency on the platform has been sentenced to life in jail on a drug trafficking conviction. The sentencing was ruled by the court yesterday.

Judge Mohamed Misbah levied a fine of MVR 100,000 against Nabeel, as well as Adam Mohamed, Bichana, HDh. Kulhudhuhfushi, arrested alongside him. The fine has to be paid within 12 months of the sentence. They were also each sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Adam Mohamed denied the charges against him. However, the court ruled that there is sufficient evidence to find both of the accused guilty.

Nabeel, meanwhile, admitted in court that the drugs belonged to him, however claiming that it was for personal use, and not for sale.

Nabeel has had trouble with authorities in the past and has been apprehended on various accounts. He was sentenced to jail for a period of one year and one month by the Criminal Court due acts of nudity in 2022. He was imprisoned for making and being in possession of nude cards.

The public has expressed their concerns and complaints due to the fact that Nabeel has not had to face any consequences due to his acts of indecency on TikTok.
