MWSC has decided to dismiss Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed from the post of Deputy Managing Director at MWSC after having been suspended for six months.

Fazeel was suspended for creating and submitting a registry for a land he was not granted from Hulhumale'.

MWSC Board decided today to dismiss Fazeel effective tomorrow.

Fazeel, the brother of former HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed, was suspended on December 19, 2024. However, he was suspended with pay. After deductions for pension and income tax, Fazeel received MVR 63,000 per month.

Due to this, Fazeel has received a total of MVR 378,000 during the past six months of suspension.

In a post on social media, MWSC said that the decision to dismiss Fazeel was made to protect the interests of the company.

"The board believes that it is not in the best interests of the company to continue to employ Fazeel in a senior position with pay while the investigation against him proceeds," the post said.

Fazeel was not included amongst the recipients of land from Hulhumale', nor did he meet the eligibility criteria. However, he had obtained a land plot and had even built four feet high boundary walls on the plot when the issue came to light.
