STELCO Managing Director Hussain Fahumee has stated today that by the end of September, the currently used meters of all customers will be replaced with smart meters.
Of the 35 islands where STELCO provides electricity services, smart meters are currently installed at Hiyaa Towers in Hulhumale'.
Last August, the company announced that the complete rollout of smart meters will be achieved within three years.
In a post on X, Fahumee said that currently, the company is making the final arrangements to introduce a smart application for the meters at the Hiyaa Towers. He added that by September, all existing meters will be replaced with smart meters.
"With the smart meter and the accompanying smart application, customers will be able to view meter information. They will be able to see electricity usage per hour, day and week," Fahumee said.
The most significant benefit of this service will be that customers will be able to track usage and economize electricity use, thus decreasing bill amounts.
The smart meter application will allow payments for multiple bills and customer service through STELCO Care.
