The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that an "Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirement for their Respective Citizens" has been signed yesterday (9th July 2025) by the Maldivian government and the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Under the agreement, Maldivians get a 30-day visa to Dominica upon entry and vice versa, said the ministry.

Permanent Representative of the Maldives to the United Nations Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed signed the agreement on behalf of Maldives, with Permanent Representative of Dominica to the United Nations Dr. Philbert Aaron signing on behalf of Dominica.

The ministry says this agreement will ease travel between the two nations and will foster the connection between both countries.

Maldives has been maintaining its position as the most prevalent passport in South Asia each year, with the passport being formally recognized in the Henley & Partners passport index.

Maldivian passports can now travel to more than 90 countries without a visa.
