Ensis fire: Residents advised to take preventive measures

Police have advised those residing in the neighbourhood surrounding the Ensis warehouse, where a fire has broken out, to take preventive measures.

Police have advised those residing in the neighbourhood surrounding the Ensis warehouse, where a fire has broken out, to take preventive measures.

Police also appealed to the public to refrain from going to the area unless absolutely necessary.

The fire was reported to MNDF at around 6:50pm today. MNDF and Police immediately attended the scene, and are working on putting the fire out.

With heavy smoke in the surrounding area, Police have urged the residents in the area, as well as those travelling through, to take preventive measures to avoid possible adverse health effects.

In a post on social media, Police said that the effects of the fire poses a risk especially to those with respiratory issues. Police urged the public to avoid going to the area at this time.

Residents in the area are advised to keep doors and windows closed, and to avoid going out. In the event that going out is necessary, masks are advised.

Health Protection Agency has also reiterated the necessity of taking preventive measures. They advised:

- Avoid areas affected by smoke to minimize exposure

- Cover nose and mouth if visiting the area

- Keep all doors and windows shut to prevent smoke from entering

- Seeking medical attention in the event that difficulty breathing, heavy coughing or dizziness is noticed
