Maldives Police Service has stated today that three officers who attended the scene of last night's fire incident at an Ensis warehouse are being treated for smoke exposure.
Police said that the condition of all three officers, who are being treated at Hulhumale' Hospital, are now improving.
A fire broke out at an Ensis warehouse in Hulhumale' Phase 1 yesterday evening. MNDF received reports of the incident around 6:50pm. By then, the fire's intensity had grown. MNDF's Fire & Rescue were engaged in efforts to put out the fire for hours, with success achieved past 11pm last night.
The fire caused thick smoke to spread across much of the surrounding area, with authorities advising residents to refrain from going out unless necessary, and to wear masks in the instance that they do go out. Authorities also urged to keep doors and windows of nearby residences closed.
MNDF said that the warehouse that caught fire had wood and pallets stored in it. The cause of the fire is unknown as of yet.
