The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has provided temporary shelter to 21 individuals following a fire at an apartment in Hulhumale Phase 1 early this morning.

The fire broke out in the third apartment on the second floor of China Flat, where 11 foreign nationals were residing. According to NDMA, residents were evacuated from four apartments due to extensive smoke, water, and fire damage.

Images released by the MNDF show heavy smoke and fire damage to household items, including burnt furniture. Videos circulating on social media captured flames erupting through windows at the height of the blaze.

No injuries were reported, and authorities confirmed that the fire has been fully extinguished. Residents in the area noted that this is not the first fire at the residence, claiming the building has caught fire on two previous occasions.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
