President extends condolences concerning Alsan's passing

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has extended his condolences concerning the passing of Yoosuf Alsan Mohamed. The 17-year-old was involved in a motorbike accident last night which led to his death and two individuals sustaining injuries.

Alsan was driving the motorcycle with a 16-year-old passenger behind him, when a 40-year-old individual was attempting to cross the road via zebra crossing, resulting in the accident.

Alsan is known to be the only son of singer Mariyam Ashfa and Mohamed Abdul Ghani (Theyrava).

President Muizzu posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) stating his sadness upon hearing the news, and went on to offer his condolences to the family.

He wished the other two individuals involved in the accident a speedy recovery.

The injured 40-year-old individual is currently on a ventilator, while the injured 16-year-old has been moved to the IGMH hospital's ward.

Alsan's funeral has been confirmed to be held at Aasaharaa today after Asru prayers.
