The Family and Child Protection Department of Maldives Police Service (FCPD) headquarters is set to move to the unfinished building near the T-Jetty.

Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar has told Mihaaru that work on the building came to a halt after the initial construction of its structure had finished, and that all remaining work has begun for the completion of the building so that it can be used accordingly.

During former President Abdulla Yameen's government, work had begun on food courts specifically for the FCPD right infront of the T-Jetty. The project has been at a standstill for more than five years.

Adam Shareef has stated that the structural integrity of the building is still top notch, even though it hasn't seen any use for quite some time.

"The Ministry will be handling the finishing touches," said the Public Works Minister.

He stated that MVR 7 million will be spent on completely finishing the construction of the building, with an aim of having it done within four months.

The FCPD HQ is currently located next to IGMH. Due to the nature of that area experiencing extreme flooding during rainy days, the FCPD is known to experience challenges in conducting their work, with heavy losses being seen.
