40 year old accident victim now off ventilator but remains in ICU

The 40 year old jogger who sustained serious injuries in Sunday night's accident in Male' has now been taken off the ventilator, but continues to receive treatment in the Intensive Care Unit, IGMH has said.

The hospital did not disclose any further details of his condition.

Sunday night's accident claimed the life of a 17 year old, and left the jogger and the 16 year old passenger of the motorcycle with critical injuries.

The accident occurred when the speeding motorcycle crashed into a jogger crossing the street on a pedestrian crossing, and then collided with an oncoming pickup truck.

IGMH's Media Official confirmed that the 16 year old remains admitted in the hospital's ward.
