Saeed, father of Economic Minister, passes away

Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed's father, Saeed Abdulla has passed away. He was the former Deputy Island Chief of Ha. Thuraakunu.

Saeed passed away in Kochin, India where he was receiving medical treatment for cancer.

Saeed had given 20 years in service as Deputy Island Chief of Ha. Thuraakunu. Prior to that, he was positioned as the Manager of an atoll shop in Ha. Dhidhdhoo and also as Deputy Island Chief of Ha. Uligamu.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu extended his condolences to the family upon hearing the news, with him posting on X (formerly known as Twitter) expressing deep sadness.

"Kind hearted, religious and a strong personality," said the President of late Saeed.

"I extend my condolences to the family of the deceased, and pray for them to be granted with resilience."
