The government of India has presented 72 vehicles to Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) today.
In a meeting held at the President's Office this afternoon during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's State visit to Maldives, President Dr Mohamed Muizzu accepted a symbolic key presenting the vehicles to MNDF.
The symbolic key was presented by Prime Minister Modi.
The vehicles were gifted under an agreement signed earlier this year between Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon and his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh during Minister Ghassan's official visit to India.
The vehicles gifted to MNDF are:
- 8 27-seater buses
- 10 pickup trucks
- 10 mini-vans
- 10 vans
- 5 lorries
- 8 tractors
- 4 tipper dump trucks
- 4 backhoe loaders
- 2 cranes
- 6 mini excavators
- 5 excavators
India said that this donation further testifies to the growing cooperation between Maldives and India. The vehicles will contribute towards capacity building within the MNDF, they said.
