The Indian government has today gifted two portable hospitals to Maldives.
President Dr Mohamed Muizzu received the portable hospitals at a ceremony held at the Sultan Park today during the ongoing State Visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Aarogya Maitri Health Cube is the first such portable hospital made. It allows for comprehensive health services to be provided, is easy to transport and can be set up in just twelve minutes.
The portable hospitals are equipped to provide ICU, operation theater, blood testing, X-Ray and emergency services. The health cube comes with its own generator.
It is designed for rapid deployment in disaster or humanitarian aid scenarios and can provide critical care for up to 200 patients. The cube also has the capacity to carry operations for 72 consecutive hours.
Health Ministry said that the portable hospitals will be used by the Emergency Medical Service. The ministry said that 20 Maldivians have been trained to use these hospitals. This includes doctors, emergency medical technicians, biomedical experts and nurses.
