Omadhoo man arrested for arson in his home

A man has been arrested for setting fire to a room in his home in Alif Dhaalu atoll Omadhoo.

Police said a man who was under the influence was reportedly screaming and shouting obscenities, damaging property and ended up setting fire to a room in his place of residence in Omadhoo last night.

No one was harmed in the incident.

Authorities said that even though no one was harmed, the room suffered significant damage with it being unable for use.

The man that was arrested has been identified as Ahmed Nafiu, 32, Stella, Omadhoo.

Police have said that they are currently investigating the situation.
