Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has encouraged Maldivian firms to explore investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, highlighting its reliable and investor-friendly environment.

In the joint press statement delivered yesterday during President Dissanayake's ongoing State Visit to Maldives, he noted that efforts are underway to implement a single-window system aimed at enhancing the investment climate, details of which he has shared with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

He mentioned that discussions had taken place regarding opportunities for Maldivian businesses within Sri Lanka’s modern technology parks.

"I especially extend invitation to Maldivians to invest in IT/AI, fisheries and agro processing, tourism, real estate and infrastructure development," he said.

Further, the two leaders had discussed possibilities for Maldives and Sri Lanka to work together to advance the tourism industry.

Also touched upon was increasing bilateral cooperation in environmental protection, climate change mitigation, and maintaining security in the Indian Ocean region.

President Dissanayake will also be participating in a business forum organized by the Sri Lankan High Commission in Maldives.

This is President Dissanayake's first visit to Maldives after assuming office last year. He will be concluding the visit tomorrow night.
