Rain and rough seas expected across Maldives over next two days

According to MNDF, Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has reported a surge in the north-west Hulhangu monsoon, bringing strong winds and rough seas.

Rainy weather and rough seas are forecast across Maldives for the next two days, and Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has urged the public to stay updated on weather and exercise caution.

According to MNDF, Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has reported a surge in the north-west Hulhangu monsoon, bringing strong winds and rough seas.

MET Office has forecast winds of up to 50mph and rough seas across the country. As a result, MNDF has advised against sea travel except for essential journeys and urged the public to avoid travelling at night.

Those traveling are encouraged to delay trips until conditions improve if possible.

MET Office has also advised the public not to travel during a yellow alert or orange warning.

A white alert had been issued nationwide from noon today until 8 pm tonight. The heaviest rainfall is expected tomorrow.

Maldives is currently experiencing wet conditions associated with the Hulhangu monsoon.
