Police have decided to send the body of Moosa Ibrahim, who was killed in L. Maavah, abroad for an autopsy.

A Police Media Official said that the investigative team had decided to have an autopsy conducted on Moosa's body. Hence, Police are now working on sending the body abroad.

Moosa was killed in a heated altercation in L. Maavah at around 10:10 am on Monday, where he was stabbed in the neck by Mohamed Ibrahim, Asaree Manzil, HDh. Nolhivaramfaru. Moosa was pronounced dead on arrival when taken to the island's Health Centre.

Moosa's body was transported to Male' for forensic testing on Monday night.

Mohamed Ibrahim, meanwhile, has been arrested and placed in remand in custody until the end of trial. Police have also recovered a knife, believed to be the murder weapon, from the lagoon of Maavah.

Police have said that Mohamed Ibrahim has a prior record of drug related offences.

Maavah residents believe that that the killing had been the result of a dispute over drug sales.
