Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has concluded his three day State Visit to Maldives and departed the country tonight.

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has concluded his three day State Visit to Maldives and departed the country tonight.

President Dissanayake arrived in Maldives on Monday, July 28 on invitation from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.

The two leaders discussed avenues of further cooperation and explored ways of strengthening the existing close relations between the countries. Among agreements signed was a treaty on cooperation between the countries in criminal justice matters.

The visit comes as the countries mark 60 years of diplomatic relations this year. Diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka was established on July 26, 1965.

President Dissanayake is the second foreign leader to visit the country since President Muizzu assumed office on November 17, 2023.
