Maldives opens 90 day on‑arrival visa for Sri Lankans

Maldives Immigration said this decision was reached after discussions took place between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, during the Sri Lankan President's recent state visit to Maldives.

Sri Lankans will now have a 90-day on-arrival visa when they come to Maldives.

According to Maldives Immigration, this decision was reached after discussions took place between President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, during the Sri Lankan President's recent state visit to Maldives.

"Sri Lanka has been issuing 90-day on-arrival visas to Maldivians since January this year. These decisions reflect the close relationship between the two countries," Maldives Immigration said on X.

Maldives Immigration has said, effective 30th July 2025, Sri Lankans that travel to Maldives will now also have a 90-day on-arrival visa.

Spouses of Maldivians who are pursuing higher education or are working in Sri Lanka have gotten a one-year visa option. Sri Lanka has also stated that they are working on a one-year visa for Maldivians who visit Sri Lanka from next month.
