Oversight of the remaining section of North Harbour has been transferred to Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), which announced that starting September, vessels docking in front of the fish market will be subject to a fee.
MPL has even previously managed the harbour area spanning from the MPL port to North Harbour. With the changes now in effect, the area in front of the fish market has now been transferred from the Male' City Council to MPL by the Transport Ministry.
With this change, MPL announced last month for vessels docking in the area to be registered.
In a post on social media, MPL said that effective yesterday, the area will be providing service only to registered vessels. Further, from September 1 onwards, services will be provided under set tariffs and policies, the company said.
MPL Media Official said that fees will be charged at the extended area of the North Harbour from September 1 onwards. They confirmed that the fees will be the same as is currently charged at the North Harbour.
