Police have recovered stolen motorcycles worth more than MVR 3 million in the span of a month.
Police, in a post on social media said that from 1 to 30 June, a total of 69 motorcycles were recovered and returned to their owners, with the total value estimated at MVR 3,412,530.
Cash was the second most commonly recovered item. Police said MVR 935,972 was retrieved in connection with 43 reported theft cases during the same period.
In addition, 22 mobile phones worth MVR 213,932 and electronic items valued at MVR 168,850 were recovered.
Other items connected to 56 separate cases valued at MVR 179,225 were also recovered.
Police said seven expatriates were handed over to Maldives Immigration department as well.
Officers from Male' Police Command carried out 1,196 hours and six minutes of patrol between 1 and 31 July.
A total of 6,389 individuals were stopped and questioned. Of those, 6,145 were found to have criminal records, while 244 had none, police said.
